Farm Update 06-27-17

I would like to start this update by thanking all those who stopped by the stand this past weekend. I sincerely appreciate your support of the farm.

The weather is still the biggest issue, which has been the primary problem since early spring. The extra rain and colder overnight temps have been a major drag on plant progress, and slowed a number of crops that should have already been producing on a regular basis, and outright killed others. There has also been somewhat of an issue with bad seeds. This has affected several different crops, and despite getting replacement seeds seems to be an ongoing issue. I’ll be providing more info on this situation in another update.

The field plantings are continuing and will for the next few weeks. I have more lettuce, kale, broccoli, cauliflower, and winter squash on the list for planting now. Last week, in addition to other items, I planted some Win-win Choi and Swiss Chard. These are both new crops and are smaller amounts than standard, but will add some extra variety to the offerings at the stand, and should be ready toward the mid-to-end of July.

I’ll be updating the What’s Available list every few days for the next couple of weeks, since there should be new crops coming ready fairly often.

Thanks again for all the support and encouragement.

Note: Newsletter subscribers will be receiving a detailed listing of crop progress, as soon as I can finish putting it together.
