Farm Update 09-09-21

Welcome to the fall. Hope all of you had a nice summer and got to enjoy the nicer weather when it was here. From what I can see, it looks like fall will settle in rather quickly this year.

Since we are moving into the late part of the growing season I suppose I should clarify the schedule for the farm stand. As of now, the plan is to keep the stand open up to and including Columbus Day weekend, with the last regular day open being Sunday October 10th. I am thinking of doing a little something beyond that, but I’m not sure just yet, so keep an eye out for further updates in that regard.

As has been mentioned in prior updates, I am selling Fresh Thanksgiving Turkeys this year, which will be available starting the Saturday before Thanksgiving. If you would like to get additional information, or pre-order one, you can do so at the farm stand, or by getting in touch with me.

The weather has been less than cooperative this year, so there will be limited amounts of my own fall veggies. Pumpkins are not yet available, but they will be soon.

For the flower lovers out there, I have been able to keep the deer away long enough to cut a good few Gladiola. They should continue on for some time, provided I can keep the deer away, or until there is a frost.

The chickens are all doing well. I will have some Fresh Whole Chickens available this weekend and then there will be a gap of at least a week until the next batch are to size. I also have Frozen Whole Chicken available (most in the 5lb range).

Over the last two weeks there has been quite a run on Preserves, with several types selling out. I will be making more of the ones that have already sold out, including a second batch of Cherry Preserves, but I was unable to do so this week. I will take advance orders for Preserves if you are looking to stock up for over the winter.

That’s it for this update, and time for me to get back to work. Hope you all have a great day.
