Farm Update 09-28-17

I’m sure we’re all wondering what’s going on with the weather at this point. While I’d really like to be able to say I have some kind of clue about what’s going on, it would ring completely hollow. And no, this kind of hot weather at this time of year is not particularly helpful.

Actually, thinking about what’s going on at the farm, this update will be on the shorter side. Given the losses noted previously, the end of season plan is still on track. For those who missed the update last week, here’s the currently planned schedule:

Thu 10/05 — 10 – 6
Fri 10/06 — 10 – 6
Sat 10/07 — 10 – 6
Sun 10/08 — 10 – 4
Mon 10/09 — 10 – 6
Tue 10/10 — Closed
Wed 10/11 — Closed
Thu 10/12 — Closed
Fri 10/13 — Closed
Sat 10/14 — 10 – 6
Sun 10/15 — 10 – 4
Mon 10/16 — Closed till Spring

Please be sure to keep an eye on the What’s Available page, since the list of available items will be changing a little more quickly as we move forward.

At this point on the farm, a lot of the work is of the housekeeping variety. There is quite a lot to do in terms of getting the fields prepped for the winter. In addition, there is still tending the fall crops and especially digging potatoes, which is rather time consuming without specialized equipment.

I suppose I should also ask at this point – If anyone has any suggestions for crops to be added into next year’s rotation, now would be the time to let me know. You can make suggestions either at the stand, or feel free to send me an email. The same also goes for types of preserves for next season.

Once again, I’d like to thank all of you who have come by and supported the farm.
